Stratasys unveils world's first colour, multi-material 3D printer
3D-printing manufacturer Stratasys has reportedly unveiled world's first 3D printer that can produce multi-colour, multi-material objects at the same time.
The Objet500 Connex3 colour multi-material printer would bring in dynamic and consumer-ready printed prototypes in terms of look and feel.
Stratasys vice-president of product marketing and sales operations Igal Zeitun said that the Objet500 Connex3 color multi-material 3D printer is in a league of its own, enabling users to get exact intended colour, material properties and surface finish as conceptualized, Mashable reports.
The printer uses three different base resins and 10 color palettes and can craft a variety of objects like a pair of sports goggles, flexible shoes, headphones, a blender and even multi-colored football and bike helmets.
However, since the size of the printer is large, it is mainly targeted toward major corporations and high-end designers.
The report said that the exact price of the Objet500 Connex3 hasn't been disclosed but one company executive said that it would cost around 330,000 dollars, and will be commercially available in the second quarter of 2014.
