Maharashtra State Muslim Panchayat (MSPC) president Farukh M Qureshi also suggested May 26 as the date of swearing-in of Narendra Modi as the 15th Prime Minister of India.


In a press statement, Mr Qureshi said he had sent a letter to Mr Modi on May 17, after the Lok Sabha results, and congratulated him and his Bharatiya Janata Party for the success.

As per Hindu religion, Monday is the day of Shiva (Mahadev) and as well as on that day as 'Shab-E-Meraj', a holy day for Muslim community, two religious day of Hindu and Muslim communities came together on Monday (May 26), so Mr Qureshi had requested Mr Modi to select the day.

And it was amazing that Mr Modi selected May 26 for swearing-in Ceremony, said Mr Qureshi and expressed happiness.
