More than 100 associations of around five lakh state government employees today felicitated Narendra Modi, who will be sworn-in as India's 15th Prime Minister on May 26.


Mr Modi resigned from the post of Gujarat Chief Minister this afternoon.

The employees felicitated Mr Modi at the Vidhan Sabha Complex.

Mr Modi while praising the bureaucrats said he was inexperienced when he became the CM in 2001 but the government officials worked hard and he got benefits from their experience.

The BJP leader reached the Rajbhavan here at around 1500 hrs and submitted his resignation to Governor Kamla Beniwal.

Mr Modi, a four-time Chief Minister from October 7, 2001, was elected yesterday as BJP Parliamentary Party Leader in the historic Central Hall of Parliament.

Mr Modi led BJP to a historic win in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections where the saffron party bagged 282 out of 543 seats.
