Punjab hikes dearness relief for pensioners
The Punjab Government today announced a 10 per cent hike in Dearness Relief payable to the state government pensioners, family pensioners and extraordinary pensioners.
Stating this here, a spokesman of the state government said it was due from January 1, 2014 and it would be paid from December 1 2014 onwards increasing it rate from existing 90 per cent to 100 per cent of the basic pension.
The spokesman said the decision about the arrears of Dearness Relief for the period from January 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014 would be taken in due course.
He said that the pending arrears of 10 per cent DA from July 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014 would be paid cash after August 15, 2014 by crediting the same in the respective bank accounts of the concerned Pensioners/Family Pensioners.
He said other provisions governing grant of Dearness Relief to pensioners such as regulation of Dearness Relief employment/re-employment and regulation of Dearness Relief where more than one pension is drawn would remain unchanged.
