ACB nabs Mahavitaran's clerk accepting Rs 1,000 bribe
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today arrested a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company, Islampur Sub-Division clerk, while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 to reduce the bill amount of an agriculture electric motor pump, which was charged more.
The arrested person was identified as Shivaji Rangarrao Patil (39), resident of Itkare village of Walva Tehsil in this district.
Pradeep Afhale, Deputy Superintendent of the ACB Police Sangli, told UNI on the phone this afternoon, that complainant, who is a resident at Aitawade-Khurd, also in Walva Tehsil of this district, met Patil and requested him to reduce the bill of his agriculture electric motor pump, which charged extra.
But Patil demanded Rs 1,000 from the complainant, for it. Then the complainant informed the ACB office here about the bribe demand, and officials laid a trap around the Mahavitran office in Islampur at 1100 hours today and nabbed Patil red-handed while accepting Rs 1,000.
