NDA leader and Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi will visit Nashik to inspect the Simhastha Kumbha Mela works there in June, according to Deputy Mayor Satish Kulkarni.

The Simhastha Kumbha Mela is held at Nashik every 12 years and the next Simhastha Kumbha will be held in 2015.

During the 2002-03 Kumbh Mela, local leaders had met the then prime minister A B Vajpayee in Delhi and he immediately gave Rs 100 crores for various kumbha works.

For the ensuing Simhastha Kumbha Mela, the State Government has a budget of Rs 2,500 crores and Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) which will receive 33 per cent of the Central and state funds.
