Honda launches 4th generation City
With the company's first diesel offering Honda Amaze, just launched in 2013, the beginning of this year once again witnessed the launch of the 4th Generation City by Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) in both the petrol and the diesel variants.
The car will be available in six varied colors with the metallic golden brown being exclusive for this model.
Asserting that the new generation City has been designed using a "man maximum machine minimum technology" Shigeru Yamazaki, Sr. VP and Director, HCIL, highlighted upon some of the key features of the new model.
Powered by a 1.5 i-DTEC diesel engine, the diesel City is purported to yield a 26 kmpl mileage and its Petrol counterpart, equipped with a 1.5 i-VTEC engine, is supposed to score an 18 kmpl and a 17.8 kmpl at manual transmission.
"With this the car is deemed to be the best fuel efficient car of the country" said Yamazaki.
A few among the other significant features of this new entrant in the industry include a sleek, sporty design, four brilliant headlights, leg space increased up to 60mm, trunk capacity enhanced and the number of buttons minimized.
Elaborating on the accessory additions to the new model, Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. VP, Marketing and Sales said, "To make the driver more environmentally responsible, the new City is accommodated with the ECON button which also enhances the fuel efficiency of the car."
"Besides, it encompasses a hands-free telephone system, audio supported by a wallpaper system, a touch screen technology, a 4 point Smartphone charging system and a lot more," he added.
With this new addition to the Honda City family, the company aims to spread out its wings to the tier II and tier III cities with over 160 facilities and targeting up to almost 58 percent sales in these cities, as told by the authorities.
"We are also planning a 35% increase in dealership this year," added Yamazaki.
Sen also made a mention of the 'Nextgen Engineering', which is a micro site launched on Dec 23 last year to elucidate upon the technological knowhow of the new model.
