A new study has revealed that keywords in the words network allow our brain to remember groups of words easily.

Michael Vitevitch, KU professor of psychology said that if words are stored in our memory like a network then it allows them to see how characteristics of the network affect language related processes.

The study clearly observes that there are words that hold key positions on the word network and they are processed more quickly and accurately than similar words in our memory, he added.

The results can provide new approach into people who suffer from language disorders and can also help find significant treatments. And it can also accelerate language learning, including a second language, if they were introduced early.

However, there is also a downside to the keyword method because if they are removed from the memory, they could fracture the part of person's word network.

The study is published in the Journal of Memory and Language.
