The state BJP workers are all set to accord a grand welcome to Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi who is arriving here this evening to address a public meeting in his Assembly consituency Maninagar.

According to state BJP spokesperson Harshad Patel, a series of meetings were held at Gujarat BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar yesterday to chalk out plans to accord a rousing welcome to Mr Modi and party general secretary Amit Shah, who is accompanying him from Delhi, at Ahmedabad airport at around 0630 hrs.

Mr Modi will go straight to his home constituency Maninagar to address the public meeting at 1900 hrs. Some senior BJP leaders of his constituency will also felicitate Mr Modi for leading the party to an impressive victory in Lok Sabha and becoming the second Gujarati to adorn the post of the prime minister of the country after Morarji Desai.

This will be his first rally in Maninagar after his historic victory.

Mr Modi has represented Maninagar constituency thrice since he took over as the Chief Minister of the state in 2001.
