Gujarat leaders rise above partylines to bid adieu to Modi
The ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have come together to extend an emotional farewell tomorrow to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is slated to take over as the next Prime Minister of the country.
Gujarat Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala has called a special session of the House tomorrow to give a befitting farewell to Modi after a landslide victory of the NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.
State Cabinet spokesperson and Finance Minister Nitin Patel said the special session of the House will be convened at 1100 hours tomorrow.
The leaders of all the political parties have decided to rise above the partylines to felicitate Modi, who, for them, has made the state proud by becoming the second Gujarati to adorn the top job after Morarji Desai. Vala has urged the members of the House to remain present in the special session.
Several leading personalities from various walks of life have been invited to attend the hurriedly convened session. Modi, elected four times as the Chief Minister, has been the Leader of the House for more than the last 13 years.
The leaders of the BJP, opposition Congress and the NCP supported the proposal of felicitating and extending a farewell to Modi moved by the Speaker as it was a matter of pride for the state.
