Indian women started their Uber Cup campaign on high note as they defeated Canada 5-0 here on Sunday.


Saina Nehwal defeated Joycelyn Ko in 25 minutes by 21-4, 21-12.

India's badminton sensation P V Sindhu beat Rachael Honderich 21-16 21-3 in the second singles contest here.

In the first women's doubles clash, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa of India defeated Bruce Alex and Phyllis Chan by 21-11 21-12.

Taking the unassailable 3-0 lead, P C Thulasi won the singles contest against Brittney Tam by 21-11 21-13 to take the lead further to 4-0.

In the last doubles contest, Pradnya Gadre and N Sikki Reddy hammered Grace Gao and Rachael Honderich 20-22 21- 18 21-16 to finished the 5-0 white-wash.
