With the arrest of five people, including a college student, the Thane Nagar police claimed to have solved a case relating to the robbery of around Rs 14 lakhs in the city's busy Chintamani Chowk on Monday, the police said today.


On May 12 afternoon, the gang comprising five members, attacked two people returning after collecting the weeks payment from the merchant in the city.

The miscreants attacked the duo with stumps which they deserted on the street and fled the scene with the looted cash.

The police inspected the CCTV clippings in the near by shops and spotted the culprits and nabbed them during the week said Sr PI P Boraste of the Thane Nagar police station.

The arrested were produced in the local court here which remanded them to police custody upto May 21, said a police officer.

The arrested have been identified as--Angatsingh Bacchulal Prajapati (29), Raju Chouhan (26), Deepak aka Suraj Fulchand Vishwakarma (23), Manoj Ramlagan Jaiswal(22) and Pankaj Ravindra Rajbhar (21).
