Gujarat Assembly to meet on May 21 to bid adieu to Modi
Gujarat Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala has called a special session of the House on May 21 to accord a farewell to Chief Minister Narendra Modi who is slated to become the next Prime Minister of the country after a landslide victory of the NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.
State Cabinet spokesperson and Finance Minister Nitin Patel today said the special session of the House will be convened at 1100 hours on May 21.
Mr Vala has urged the Members of the House to remain present on that day.
Mr Modi, elected four times as the Chief Minister, has been the Leader of the House for more than 12 years.
A meeting of the Speaker, Mr Patel and Energy Minister Saurabh Patel was held this morning in the Speaker's chamber to discuss the details of the one-sitting session.
The leaders of the BJP, opposition Congress and the NCP supported the proposal of felicitating and extending a farewell to Mr Modi moved by the Speaker as it was a matter of pride for the state.
