Suspended Trinamool Congress legislator Sikha Mitra has decided to quit her Assembly membership after her husband and Congress leader Somen Mitra lost Lok Sabha polls in Kolkata North.

Suspended by the ruling party in December 2012 for alleged anti-party activities, Ms Mitra had earlier refused to resign.

Her husband Somen Mitra, a former Congress president, had joined the AITC and won the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Diamond Harbour.

He quit the party headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in January this year, and again joined the Congress, but fought an unsuccessful Parliamentary poll this time.

Ms Mitra today said she would submit her resignation letter on Monday.
