Minister of Railways Mallikarjun Kharge has directed to hold the proposed hike in freight charges and passenger fare till further advice for placing the proposal before the new government comes.


A statement issued here today by the railway authority said, "the decision on the proposed hike in freight charges and passenger fares will be kept pending till further advice for placing this proposal before the new government for taking a view/decision in the matter."

Earlier yesterday, the railway had increased the tariff effective from May 20, this year.

Accordingly, the Railway Board commercial circular No. 19 dated 16-5-2014, and freight rate circular No. RC-15 dated May 16 are kept in abeyance till further advice, it stated.
