A total of 4,31,992 electorate among 60.42 per cent of people, who exercised their frachise in this Lok Sabha election, of the total 7.89 crore voters in Maharashtra opted for the option of None of the Above (NOTA) candidate.


The NOTA option was introduced the first time in these elections by the Election Commission. This suggestion was made by the social activist Anna Hazare, on ground that people should have choice of this option, if, they did not want to give vote to any of the candidates in their constituency.

In the precentage wise 0.9 per cent of the 60.42 per cent voters have opted for NOTA option.

The highest number of NOTA users were in Naxalist hit Gadhiroli district, where a total of 24,488 voters opted for NOTA while lowest number of 3,155 NOTA users were recorded at Nanded Parliamentary constituency.from where the former Chief Minister and Congress Candidate Ashok Chavan has been elected.
