The district rural police today said they have launched a manhunt for the killers of a 35-year-old woman and an eight-month-old girl child.


The bodies of the woman and her child were recovered by police from the railway tracks between Mumbai and Nashik at Pali village last evening, police said.

The post-mortem of the bodies revealed that the child was strangulated to death and the woman was smashed to death with a stone, they said.

Based on the medical report, a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the unknown killers, police said, adding, the motive of the murder was yet to be ascertained.
