The Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has awarded claim of Rs One lakh to a milk vendor for the accidental death of his bullocks.


The verdict was given by Adhoc district Judge and Member of the MACT M H More, in a claim filed by milkman Deonarayan Ram Naresh Jaiswar, of Ambernath.

Jaiswar, who got the claim after almost nine years, stated in his complaint that on October 19, 2005 at about 1900 hours, four of his bullocks died due to negligent driving by a truck driver.

The verdict was given ex parte against the owner and driver of the vehicle while the New India Insurance company Ltd contested the claim.

The court however, upheld the claim and ordered payment of 8 per cent interest on the amount of compensation from April 2006.

The compensation is to be paid by all the respondents jointly the court ordered.
