Police claims sharp decline in all crimes in Ahmedabad
The city police today claimed that there was a sharp decline in all types of crimes during the last four months this year as the period witnessed 24 per cent decline in criminal cases in the city in comparision to the same period last year.
"Ahmedabad city has seen a sharp decline in all types of crime. The first four months of this year (January to April 2014) has seen a decline 24 per cent in crime. This reduction is particularly noticeable in serious crimes like murder, dacoity, robbery and so on," a statement issued by the Ahmedabad police said.
According to the police, 17 murder cases were registered in the last four months comparing to 30 during the period last year. All the 17 cases were detected.
A total of 61 chain snatching cases were reported from January to April this year in comparision of 105 cases of the period last year. However, out of 61 cases, only 20 were detected yet.
The police claimed that there was a decline in rioting, kidnapping and other crimes.
It said this "unprecedented success" of Ahmedabad city police in curbing and controlling crime was due to a definite strategy and detailed action plan, as also due to a sharp focus on implementation of all aspects of this action plan and using advanced technology.
