Water scarcity intensifies in Marathwada
Following severe heat wave sweeping across the Marathwada region, the administration has supplied additional 42 tanker this week as compared to the last week.

According to the statistics issued by the Divisional commissioner office here today, as many as 251 water tankers were pressed into service in 194 villages and 142 hamlets of the five districts of the region, as compared to 209 water tankers deployed in the previous week, it may be rise further.
Though, the unseasonal rain lashed the region in February and March, the water tanker services already started in Aurangabad, Beed, Osmanabad, Nanded and Jalna since March only.
The Aurangabad district, a divisional headquarter where highest number of 107 water tankers have been pressed into service in 74 villages followed by Beed 65 tankers supplying water to 71 villages and 128 hamlets, 52 water tankers are supplying water to 45 villages and five hamlets in Osmanabad district, four tankers for four villages in Jalna district and nine affected hamlets in Nanded district getting water through three tankers, the statistic stated.
However, the situation in the rest of the three districts in the region -- Parbhani, Hingoli and Latur is comparatively better at present, the report added.
