Harassed beyond her limits, a young housewife from Thane ended her life by consuming poison in Nevade village of Padgha in Bhiwandi taluka, the Thane district rural police said today.


PSI RG Kale of the Padgha police station said here today Sapna Gurunath Warghade (25), was married to one Gurunath Warghade (27), some eight years back. The couple have a small child.

Sapna's in-laws and husband used to continuously harass her mentally and physically, for not doing any housework.

Fed up with the ill-treatment, she ended her life by consuming poison yesterday.

"She was taken to the local hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead," the police added.

Following the complaint by the father of the victim, the police have charged and sent out an arrest warrent for Gurunath, and his parents, Barku Warghade (55) and Sangeeta (50).

Police have launched a manhunt for the trio, who are absconding.

"We have charged the trio under sections 498(A), 306,504 rw 34 of the IPC," the police informed.
