Two separate murder cases were reported involving a woman and in other a man Thane district by the rural police, police said here today.


In the first case, a tribal housewife, Aruna Gosavi Agri (50) lived with her husband, Bharat (55) in a village known as Machipada hamlet in Gholwad under the Dahanu division.

The couple used to indulge in excessive drinking and the husband was fustrated with his wife for drinking and creating a scene in the vicinity. He objected to her drinking but the lady would not budge as a result of which both quarreld repeatedly.

"It was on Tuesday night, the couple quarreled endlessly. In a fit of anger and still under influence of liquor, the accused, Bharat, beat his wife so badly that she died on the spot," the police said.

"The accused had been arrested and charged under section 302 of the IPC and further investigations are being carried out by the local Gholwad police officers.' the police added.

In the second case, a 42-year-old villager, resident of Busar Pada of Chambarseth, was brutally killed by a couple, in the farm owned by the victim and his family members because of a dispute arising out of the land in Jawhar.

According to the complaint by the victim's father, Mauji Marya Bambere (60), the accused Ganesh Bacchu Valvi (34) called the victim Rajee Mauji Bambere, out of the house and took him to the farm, yesterday.

There the accused accompanied by his wife, Sakubai Ganesh Valvi, attacked the victim with fists initially and later strangulated him to death.

"We have registered the case under section 302 rw 34 of the IPC against the couple. The husband has been arrested but the hunt is still on for the wife," the police said.
