Dist Administration makes necessary arrangements for counting
The district administration and police in Kolhapur and Hatkanangale Lok Sabha constituencies have made all necessary arrangements for the counting of votes, which will be held at the Government Polytechnics new building near Shivaji University, on the old Pune-Bangalore National Highway.
The process will begin in less than 48 hours in this sugar and gur belt district of western Maharashtra, at 0800 hrs on May 16.
According to the District Election Office, counting of votes will be conducted on a total of 168 tables, with 14 tables assigned for each of the 12 Assembly constituencies that consist Kolhapur and Hatkanangale LS constituencies.
A total 504 employees, with three employees for each table, are appointed for smoothly counting, which will be held in minimum of 24 rounds and maximum of 29 rounds.
The final results of these two LS constituencies are expected to be announced at around at 1500 hrs on that day.
The district Police Administration is also readying itself to put law and order situation smoothly for the day. Police bandobast will be deployed in the counting area to avoid any untoward incident.
In a press statement of the police administration, Dr Manojkumar Sharma, District Superintendent of Police said, 'we have decided to divert traffic routes in Government Polytechnics college area from early morning at 0500 hrs till the end of the counting process on May 16.'
Dr Sharma said that adequate police bandobast has been appointed for counting day including one Police Superintendent (SP), two Additional SP, five Deputy SP, 20-Police Inspectors, 15 Assistant PI, 2,600-Police Constables, 700-Homeguards and one company of State Reserve Police.
Meanwhile in the neighboring Sangli district too, the district administration is geared up for counting for the lone Sangli Lok Sabha constituency of the district.
The process will will be held at Food Corporation of India's Hall, on Miraj Road on May 16.
