Toll attack: FIRs filed, MNS MLA detained

Posted on Jan 27 2014 | IBNS

Mumbai, Jan 27 : The Maharashtra Police on Monday said they have filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with the toll booth attack by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

The FIRs were filed at Navghar and Dahisar police stations.

Meanwhile, MNS MLA Pravin Darekar has been detained in the case.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Monday said MNS chief Raj Thackeray wants cheap publicity.

"All Raj Thackeray wants is cheap publicity. There is always a competition between Shiv Sena and MNS on who will spread more violence," said NCP leader Nawab Malik.

Pertinently, Thackeray recently asked his party workers not to pay toll even at the cost of resorting to violence.

MNS workers last Thursday allegedly vandalised a toll booth in Maharashtra's Thane district, said reports.

According to reports, the Katai Toll Naka at Dombivli town in Thane was vandalised around 10 am by more than 40 MNS workers, who were protesting against poor condition of the road and illegal toll collection.

They were led by party leader Ramesh Patil.

The police said 20 people were detained in the incident.
