Secretary Tourism, Union Ministry of Tourism, Parvez Dewan today inspected the under construction work of Food Craft Institute (FCI) building at Jagti Township in city outskirts of this winter capital.


The project has been funded by the Central Government under the programme "Hunar-se-Rozgar", the institute will be imparting training to youths in various trades like front office, bakery cookery, F and B and other allied trades related with the tourism industry.

"Seeing the vast potential of employment in the tourism industry particularly in Katra and Patnitop, the Union Government sanctioned this project to cater the requirement of hotel industry," an official said.

The official said the institute would go a long way in providing employment to the youth and solve the unemployed problem to a great extent.

At present, the FCI is operating from the Yatri Niwas, Bhawati Nagar, Jammu and the students are being imparted training in various trades like cookery, housekeeping, F and B and so on.

Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Sharma, however, explained that the work of the building was under progress and assured that the construction would be completed in the stipulated time.
