The myriad hues and shades of the diverse North East will be showcased at an exclusive programme and attended by top industrialists, film personalities and leading individuals of the country, in Mumbai.


The North East Festival (NEF) has joined hand with the Taj Mahal Palace of Mumbai to organise the programme, 'Colours of North East', on May 17 next at Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba, Mumbai. Leading industrialists of Mumbai, top bankers, Bollywood producers, actors, ad film makers, costume designers, media personalities and socialites will be attending the exclusive evening, organizers of NEF said here in a statement today.

Taj Mahal Palace is hosting the dinner and also helping to invite the top personalities of Mumbai.

The programme at Mumbai would include presentation by various state governments of the North East, musical performances by top musicians of the region including Zubin Garg, Soulmate, Tetseo Sisters, Guru Reuban Masangva, ethnic fashion showcasing best of North East Fabric by top designers including Yana Ngoba, Garima Saikia Garg and Dhiraj Deka. The Brand Ambassadors of NE, Adil Hussain and MC Mary Kom, would walk the ramp with North Eastern fabric along with top Bollywood actor John Abraham.

Chief Ministers of North Eastern region, top bureaucrats of the region will be attending the programme. Shyamkanu Mahanta, Organiser in Chief of NEF, said the programme is aimed at attracting Bollywood to explore film shootings in North East and to encourage North East fabric to be used in Bollywood. The chief minister of Meghalaya will be making a presentation on why Meghalaya is an ideal film shootings destination, similarly Assam will also try to project the State as ideal destination for Bollywood.

The North East Festival(NEF)- Connecting People, Celebrating Life is an attempt to highlight the region across the country and is organised by Socio-Cultural Trust of North East Trend MMS in association with Eight State Governments of North Eastern region. Last year, NEF was organised in New Delhi.
