3 arrested for minor girl's murder
The Pune Railway Police today claimed to have solved the murder of a minor girl, whose body was found at Talegaon railway station two days back, with the arrest of three accused in this connection.
Briefing mediapersons here this evening, Railway Police superintendent Vishwa Pansare said the minor girl's body was found from a bag at Talegaon railway platform on May 7. It was left by some unknown persons, he informed.
The case was a challenge to police since there was no close circuit TV camera installed at this station, he said.
During the course of investigation, he said, police got some information which led to the arrest of Rahul Ravindra Barai (21), Ishan Hamjan Ali Qureshi (21), both from Antop Hill, Wadala in Mumbai.
After enquiring both the accused, police arrested the mastermind and conspirant Santosh Vishnu Jugdar (31) also from Wadala in Mumbai.
The accused have admitted to the crime since they all were involved in serious economic offences and various crimes, including a murder and two robbery offences, were registered against them at various police stations of Mumbai, he said.
The minor girl was known to Jugdar since long and he had asked her to get involved in illegal acts with his friends. When she refused, she was allegedly strangulated and her body was kept in a bag which the accussed later dropped at the Talegaon railway station and returned to Mumbai.
The accused were remanded to police custody, he added.
