Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) Registrar Prakash Atkare announced various categories of state-level YCMOU awards last night.

According to an official press note released by YCMOU awards, people and organisations doing notable work in their fields like education, social and literature were being awarded.

The Shramseva award for the year 2012-13 has been declared to Najubai Gavit, senior social activist from Dhule, while the Shramseva award 2013-14 year has been awarded to Usha Wagh from Pune.

Shramseva award is given to those women or organisations run by women who strive for the uplift of underprivileged women.

Usha Wagh from Pune is doing remarkable work for destitute women and has been associated with Dalit movement for since long.

Social worker Najubai Gavit from Dhule has done significant work for the rights of tribal people. She fought ferociously to implement forest rights act, which gives many rights to tribal people.
