The equity market reached an all-time-high at 22,933.27, spurted by 589.23 poins on the strength of banking and financial shares following hopes of an NDA-led victory in the upcoming Loksabha elections.

All the sectoral indices zoomed up till noon trade. The Sensex recorded days high and low 22,955.99 and 22,317.18 points respectively.

Nifty of National Stock Exchange registered days high and low at 6,850.05 and 6,652.15 points respectively. Reliance Industries, Axis Bank and Coal India, ICICI Bank, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) hit 52-week highs in the BSE 30-share sensex pack. However, the broader markets underperformed. Smallcap index added 0.7% and the midcap index advanced 1% in noon deals. Auto, Power and Oil & Gas advanced by 2 per cent each were the other major sectoral gainers. Health Care and Consumer Durables were the only laggards. Dr Reddys Lab slipped by 1 per cent. Hindalco, Coal India, ICICI Bank, Tata Power, HDFC, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Steel up 3.5-5 per cent.

The market breadth was positive on BSE. 1,433 stocks advanced while 1,010 stocks declined.
