The decision to recommend for the dissolution of the Assembly was taken at the cabinet meeting here today chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, Chief Secretary J K Moahapatra said the cabinet took the decision to meet the constitutional requirement.

The term of the present Assembly is to be completed on June 7. The elections to the state Assembly were held in two phases on April 10 and 17 last. The result of the elections will be declared on May 16.

In another decision, the government decided to stand guarantee for the NAFED to avail Rs 30 crore loan from the Odisha State Cooperative Bank as its working capital to procure groundnut and sunflower from the farmers at the Minimum Support Price announced by the government.

The Cabinet also decided to stand guarantee for the Aska Cooperative Sugar Factory to avail Rs 20 crore loan from the Odisha State Cooperative Bank to procure sugarcane from the farmers for processing and crushing.
