Ahmedabad division celebrates 59th Railway Week
The Ahmedabad division of the Western Railway today celebrated 59th Railway Week with awarding a number of employees for their meritorious service.
DRM Ahmedabad Alok Kumar Tiwari awarded the personnel on the occasion. A total of 413 Railway employees were awarded.
Mr Tiwari said Railway employees were committed to service of the nation and passengers' safety.
"Railway always run. It never stops be it any weather. In several terms we are even ahead of the security personnel as we are also serving the nation tirelessely. We should be proud of it," he said.
The Ahmedabad division has received four shields for different categories of services.
The Railway Week is celebrated to commemorate the first Railway, which ran on April 16, 1853 from Boribandar to Thane in Maharashtra.
The Railway Week's celebration was delayed due to the ongoing general elections.
Voting in Gujarat was held on April 30.
