Modi taunts Rahul for neglecting Amethi, and seeking votes now
Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi taunted Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi by saying that after not bothering to visit the area in five years, the stage has come where he is now seeking votes from every nook and corner of Amethi.
"Those people who never used to even visit Amethi in these five years, are now seen roaming around the by-lanes of Amethi with their hands folded to seek votes," Modi said while at a rally in Krishnanagar.
He taunted Sonia Gandhi that her son was now also taking tours in Amethi to get votes.
Modi then turned his tirade against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee saying that she never wants good days for West Bengal ; she thinks let the bad days persist and it should continue.
Modi said that for 40 years the Left and the Congress ruled in West Bengal and now "Didi (Mamata Banerjee) is ruling here(West Bengal), has there been any change in your lives?" Pat came the reply from the crowd 'No'.
BJP's prime ministerial candidate riled against the West Bengal chief minister questioning her on the rape crimes that had leapfroged in the state.
"Didi, you are a tigress, why are women being raped every now and then in West Bengal, the nation wants an answer from you," Modi asked.
Modi questioned Mamata "Didi (Mamata) used to fight for Bengal, speak for Bengal, but today Didi is speaking for the 'chair', fighting for the 'chair'."
Modi reminded the crowd how the West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee had said in parliament that the Bangladeshis had ruined Bengal and hence called for their ouster.
"Didi how did you turn against Bangladeshis ? What I am speaking today you used to speak a few years ago," Modi said.
