Odisha Wednesday confirmed three more deaths due to sunstroke, taking the toll in the heat wave sweeping across the state to 15.

Two people died in Keonjhar district while another succumbed to heat in Bolangir district, a state revenue department official told IANS.

While Anirudha Patra, 42, died in Kanto village of Keonjhar district April 29, an unidentified woman, aged 45, passed away in Kalarabeni village in the same district a day earlier.

Similarly, Heera Bag, a middle-aged woman breathed her last in Khujenpali village of Bolangir district April 10.

Though they died last month, the local administrations made the confirmations only Wednesday, the official said.

Although temperatures have dropped in many places following rain and thundershowers, some areas in the state continue to reel under the heat wave.

Sonepur, 280 km from here, recorded a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius Wednesday, the state's highest for the day.
