Six Atletico Madrid key officials headed by Miguel angel Marin arrived here today to finalise deal with India former cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and two city industrialists about the Kolkata franchise for much awaited Indian Super League (ISL) to kick start in September.

The officials of the Spanish football giant Atletico Madrid after landing at the Dum Dum airport this morning visited to inspect the facilities of Salt Lake Stadium and Barasat Stadium, the two home venue of the Kolkata franchise, partly owned by Ganguly.

Three other part owners are industrialists Harshavardhan Neotia, Sanjiv Goenka, and Utsav Parekh.

The Madrid officials will also discuss with the Indian owners all pros and cons like naming of the team, appointing coach, practice facilities and all details before announcing at a media conference here tomorrow.

The ISL or Indian Super League is a proposed football league by IMG-Reliance (a joint venture of IMG and Reliance Industries) and the All India Football Federation. It is set to kick-off in September and finish its first season in November. The league is expected to run along the lines of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Besides Miguel Angel Marin of Atlético Madrid, also one of the co-owners of the franchise, Peter Kenyon, advisor to club, Emilio Gutierrez, director of marketing, Carlos Aguilera Martin are among other visiting the city to finalise the deal with their Indian counterparts.

Miguel Angel Marin is owner of Atlético Madrid, which vying to win the Spanish La Liga ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The football officials are expected to visit Mother Teresa House later today.
