A builder from Thane district, who is wanted by ACB in connection with a multi-crore land scam, is contesting Lok Sabha polls being held tomorrow. BJP alliance party Apna dal candidate Harbans Singh, who hails from Thane district, is contesting the polls from Pratapgarh constituency of Uttar Pradesh.


Singh is facing criminal charges of multi-crore fraud along with 24 others. A charge sheet has been filed in Thane court by the ACB in connection with 30-year-old case involving CIDCO and revenue officials.

Singh had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha polls from Thane at time of assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Now, he is trying his luck from Pratapgarh Lok Sabha segment from Uttar Pradesh.

He is being supported by Thakur lobby that is neither inclined towards Ratna Singh nor Raja Bhaiyya. Besides, the Apna Dal has a strong presence in the constituency with over 3.5 lakh Kurmi votes.
