2 booked for violating election norms in UP
A case for violation of the election model code of conduct was today registered against two persons, who were caught distributing money to the people to vote in favour of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Ram Prasad Chaudhary.
Two persons named Narendra Kumar and Munna Lal were nailed, when they were distributing money to woo the voters at Barsav village, Superintendent of Police V P Shrivastav said.
Rs 7,000 cash and other campaigning material was recovered from them.
Police have lodged the case under the Peoples' Representative Act and sent them to jail.
BSP candidate Ram Prasad Chaudhary is contesting from Basti Lok Sabha seat going to polls on May 7 next.
