The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today said the Election Commission has informed the party that it has ordered deployment of central forces in all polling booths of Varanasi, which will also be covered by videography.

Prashant Bhushan of the Aam Aadmi Party met Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath and apprised him of the ground situation prevailing in Varanasi and Amethi, the party said in a statement.

The Commission has also assured that polling booths in Amethi will also be guarded by the Central forces, wherever necessary, the statement further said.

Taking cognisance of the complaint filed by the AAP against Deputy Superintendent of Police of Varanasi, the Commission also assured action against the erring DSP, the statement said.

"The DSP had sent an objectionable internal letter about AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal's election campaign. The AAP has complained that the contents of the letter reveal a pro-BJP bias of the concerned officer," the statement said.

"In his reply to Varanasi's returning officer and District Magistrate, Mr Kejriwal questioned the impartiality of this officer and told the administration that its letter to him was clear evidence of the administration working under BJP and Narendra Modi's influence," the statement said.

"The Commission has also suggested to AAP that it should send the list of booths that it considers sensitive to the Returning Officer and the Observer in Varanasi. In case of Amethi, the Commission assured adequate deployment of Central forces and video monitoring for polling on May 7," the party statement added.
