Trinamool supremo and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today slammed the Left Front for ruining Bengal in the last 34 years and accused the Centre of financially depriving the state so that development comes to a standstill.

Ms Banerjee, addressing three election rallies here at Basirhat, Swarupnagar and Panihati in North 24 Parganas district in support of party candidate Saugata Roy, reiterated that she will never allow the division of Bengal. " The CPI(M) is indulging in malicious campaigns, Congress is steeped in corruption and BJP stands for communalism. I request the Opposition to counter us on policies. I am ready to answer all their questions. But I will not tolerate any attempt to divide the state. I will not allow any Bengalis to be thrown out of the state. Before raising the bogey of chit funds, the Left should answer who was in power when chit funds were founded in Bengal," she said. " The CPI(M) mouthpiece is full of ads of Saradha. They have taken money from chit funds. Several media houses took money from Saradha to publish ads. How can they point fingers at others now?" she asked.

" While we are increasing our earning, the Centre has been taking away all our money. Instead of raising voice against the neglect by Centre for Bengal, Modi is talking of driving Bengalis away. If they dare touch a single citizen of Bengal, we will not sit silently. Who are they calling refugees? " the Trinamool supremo warned.

The chief minister said, "People who have taken shelter in Bengal are the rightful citizens of the state. Several thousands of people from Assam have come to Bengal after the recent violence. We have given them shelter. UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Marwari - everyone lives here. Whoever lives in this state is a Bengali. How many Bengali MLAs does Gujarat have? We have MLAs and MPs from different regions. While addressing the rallies she said, "The Left have sold their ideology to the Congress and BJP. They only have their own interests. The Opposition cannot counter us on policy matters. They cannot criticise our development initiatives. The Opposition is jealous." "CPI(M)-Congress-BJP are playing a got-up match. My message for them: I will continue with development, catch me if you can," she added.
