Hitting back at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for her comment that he was doing 'neech rajniti' (low-level politics), BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said he was being targeted because he comes from a backward caste.

"As I come from socially backward class that is why my politics is of low-level for them," Mr Modi tweeted.

Mr Modi said "some people" were not able to see that sacrifices made by the people from backward castes played an important role in taking the country to great heights.

"Great heights of this low-level politics will wipe tears of crores of the people by making India free from misgovernance and vote back politics continuing for the last 60 years," the Gujarat Chief Minister expressed.

"The height of this 'neech rajniti' has capability to place India as a wealthy and strong nation," he added.

Priyanka yesterday lashed out at the BJP's PM nominee saying he has 'insulted' her 'martyred' father late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi during his speech at a rally in Amethi.

She accused the Gujarat Chief Minister of indulging in 'low-level politics'.

During a rally in support of BJP candidate Smriti Irani, Mr Modi accused the Congress of practicing politics of 'arrogance' and said Rajiv Gandhi, when he was Congress general secretary, had once publicly 'humiliated' the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.
