A 17-year-old teenage a girl was killed after a speeding dumper rammed her motor scooter near Takala area of the city, on Old Pune-Bangalore National Highway, today.


The girl, Kajal Rajendra Patil, a resident at Sakhalkar Colony in Saneguruji Nagar, a suburb of the city, was returning home by motor scooter after giving her exam paper at New Polytechnic Diploma College this afternoon, when the incident occurred, police said.

After the dumper hit her scooter from behind at the end of new flyover bridge, she fell down on the road and was crushed under the front wheels of dumper.

Incensed over the incident, a mob gathered at the spot and began pelting stones on dumper and broke its front windshield.

After coming to know about the incident, a team of Rajarampuri police immediately rushed to the spot and arrested dumper driver Bhaubali Junappa Shetyabole (34) of Hukkeri village in Karnataka, sources added.
