A computer teacher was arrested by the city police for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old student in the classroom on the pretext of checking her computer.

The incident took place on Wednesday when the student went to class in the afternoon. She switched on the computer but found that it was not working. So she asked the accused Harishchandra Tiwari to check it out.

While checking the computer, Tiwari came too close to the victim and touched her twice inappropriately, police said.

'The victim felt uncomfortable and decided to shift to another chair, but Tiwari allegedly kissed her.

"The victim got scared and left from the class. She told her elder sister, who later told their parents about the incident,' said a police officer.

'We have recorded the victim's statement, following which Tiwari was arrested from his house yesterday. Two more students were in the classroom at the time of incident but they said they did not see anything,' said senior police inspector Pradeep Gosavi of the Andheri police station.

The suspect was today produced before a local court, which has remanded him to police custody till May 5.
