Athawale demands high level inquiry in murder case
Republican Party of India (A) President, Ramdas Athawale has demanded a high level enquiry in the murder of a dalit youth in Kharda village in Ahmednagar. A 17-year-old dalit boy was allegedly murdered and hanged from a tree over his love affair with a minor girl from an upper caste at Kharda village in Jamkhed taluka of Ahmednagar on Monday.
The victim, Nitin Raju Aage was beaten with sticks and rods and later strangled with a rope near New English School Kharda in Yeole brick kiln locality. Mr Athawale visited the bereaved family in Kharda village of Jamkhed tehsil in Ahmednagar district yesterday and consoled them.
He said he would urge the state Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to run the case at fast track court, and hand over the case to the public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The victim, Nitin was a HSC student and had an alleged affair with the sister of prime accused Aba Golekar. On Monday night, police arrested Aba Golekar, Sesrao Yeole and a Minor under various sections of IPC and Atrocity laws.
Seven persons were arrested on Wednesday and one man was arrested yesterday. All have been remanded to police custody till May 9 while three minors were sent to juvenile court. With this, 11 people have been arrested so far in this case, police said.
