Rajinikanth to shoot in sugar land Mandya from May 3
Tamil superstar Rajinikant's fans in the sugar town of Mandya at Karnataka can have their fill when shooting of his new starrer 'Linga' begins in the district on May 3.
Produced under the local banner Rockline Entertainment, the film will be shot entirely in the Cauvery river belt of Mandya, and his fans here can feast their eyes on their screen idol, sources said.
Mandya Police also confirmed the filming of the latest Rajini starrer here.
The event is being looked forward to by the people of Karnataka as Rajini has his roots in Bangalore.
Mandya police sources told UNI that the shooting will be from May 3 to 11 in various parts of Mandya district. Mandya SP Bhushan confirmed that the film unit has sought protection. The police will provide suitable protection to the unit, including Rajini and others during their shooting in the district.
The first couple of days the shooting will be in Kharighatta, hills with the temple of Lord Sri Venkateshwara on the banks of the river Cauvery.
They will then move to the famous temple town Melkote, the abode of Lord Sri Chaluvarayanaswamy and Sri Lakshmi.
An ardent visitor of Melukote, Rajini had visited the hill shrine earlier when the famous 'Padayappa house' was shot here.
Shooting of Linga will also take place in the world famous Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir area and Brindavan Gardens.
The new Rajini cinema comes in the wake of his much anticapitaped starrer 'Kochadaiiyaan' which will hit the ciemas shortly.
However, Rajini buffs vow that 'Limga' will be the biggest blockbuster.
Rajini will have two heroines Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka for this project.
The film's shooting was supposed to begin in the world famous Mysore Palace.
