Sales Tax Dy Commissioner remanded to police custody till May 5
A special court today remanded deputy commissioner of Sales Tax Ramesh Bhagoji Jaid, who was arrested for graft last evening, to police custody till May 5.
Meanwhile, the ACB officials conducted raids at various places and seized several properties in the name of his wife and other relatives, an ACB release here stated. According to the release, there were five flats in the name of his wife, daughter, son-in-law and brother in Dombivli, Dadar, Kharghar and Pune.
Besides this, his wife and nephew had five shops in Kharghar, Badlapur and Pune.
In addition to this, his wife had two partnership firms -- Software Computer Education and the Gurukripa Developers, a construction firm.
Thus, the total investment by his wife and others in the construction firm was around Rs 1,40,60,000, the release stated.
Furthermore, there was Rs 1.50 lakh cash in his name in various bank accounts.
Jaid was arrested while accepting the bribe of Rs five lakh from an industrialist for favouring him in a tax assessement.
