BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat recorded 63.31 per cent voting in the single-phase polling at 26 Lok Sabha seats, that took place yesterday.

The voting percentage was about 15 per cent more than in comparision to the last general elections of 2009.

While 2009 Lok Sabha polls had witnessed 47.89 per cent voting, it was 51.41 per cent in the 2004 polls.

The Election Commission today said maximum 74.59 per cent voting was recorded in Bardoli, which had witnessed 'satyagraha' in 1928 under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Father of the nation Mahatama Gandhi's birthplace Porbandar recorded the lowest 52.31 per cent voting.

Mr Modi's constituency Vadodara witnessed a bumper 70.75 per cent polling.

Out of a total 4.06 crore voters in Gujarat, 1,15,06,457 are female voters. their votes.

Constituency-wise percentage was Kachchh (61.44), Banaskantha (58.29), Patan (58.36), Mahesana (66.63), Sabarkantha (67.30), Gandhinagar (65.10), Ahmedabad East (61.26), Ahmedabad West (SC) (62.64), Surendranagar (56.70), Rajkot (63.59), Porbandar (52.31), Jamnagar (57.80), Junagadh (63.16), Amreli (54.21), Bhavnagar (57.27), Anand (64.63), Kheda (59.50), Panchmahal (58.84), Dahod (ST) (63.38), Vadodara (70.57), Chhota Udaipur (ST) (71.15), Bharuch (74.54), Bardoli (ST) (74.59), Surat (63.76), Navsari (65.12) and Valsad (ST) (74.09).
