General alert issued in Gujarat after Chennai blast
A general alert has been issued across Gujarat with tight security measures after two blasts took place in a train at Chennai railway station this morning.
"We have issued a general alert across the state. Anti-sabotage teams have been checking all the incoming and outgoing trains at the railway stations," DGP P C Thakur told UNI.
Alert has been issued at all the important railway stations inlcuding Ahmedabad railway station.
Dog-squads were also taking part in the security measures.
Alert has also been issued at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The sources said the police and other security agencies have been asked to step up the vigil at all public places.
A 24-year-old-woman was killed and 14 others injured, when two low intensity bombs exploded in the Guwahati-Bangalore Express, soon after it arrived at the Chennai Central station.
The explosions took place in the S4 and S5 coaches, about ten minutes after the train arrived on platform no 9 from Bangalore.
