General Motors India today said its sales declined by 35.3 per cent to 5,302 vehicles in April 2014.

The car maker had sold 8,196 units during the corresponding
month of last year.

Commenting on the poor monthly sales performance, General Motors India Vice President P Balendran said customer sentiment continues to remain negative even with price reduction on account of excise duty cut and other market promotion schemes.

''Going by the market scenario, we expect the challenging times to continue as the general economic conditions continue to remain depressed,'' he said.

During the month under review, the company sold 1,828 units of Beat, 1,267 units of Tavera and 939 units of Chevrolet Enjoy.
