The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked a corporator of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation along with her husband for allegedly demanding a sum of Rs two lakh from a resident for not razing his construction in the township.

The BJP corporator, Maya Haresh Chawla, made this demand on April 27 to the complainant for not pulling down the construction being carried out in front of his barrack in the township, sources in ACB here said.

She had misused her position as the public servant and made the demand, sources said and stated that her husband Haresh Varadmal Chawla abetted the demand and hence he has also been made an accused in the crime.

No arrest has been made so dar in connection with the offence, sources added.
