With the arrest of six people incuding the one who was recently released from jail, the district rural police today claimed to have solved the major case of dacoity in an industrial unit of Acchad in Talasari of the district.

On April 11, the gang gatecrashed into the Jash Industries and allegedly threatend the owner of the company Janardhan Jagnanadan Prasad at knife point and looted around 3,976 kg copper and nickel bars collectively worth Rs 19.93 lakh, police said.

The local police registered an offence under Sections 395 and 397 of the Indian Penal Code against the unknown criminals.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Local Crime Branch tapped the notorious criminal Mohammad Umarshah Mohmd Shah (39), who was involved in such crimes and who had just got out of the jail after serving a term.

The arrest of Shah and close interrogation revealed that he, along with the other criminals, had carried out the dacoity.

Based on the information provided by Shah, police arrested five others -- Vijay S Yadav (27), Arjun Ranu Pawse (36), Ali Hasan Mohamad Hasan Shah (32), Nizamuddin Asmohamad Khan (42) and Altaf Ahmed Shamim Mohamad Khan (19).

Besides the arrested accused, there were around half a dozen absconding members who were also inovled in the dacoity. They are Bablu, Dinesh, Samnan, Imran and one of his friends.

The police recovered stolen goods worth Rs 2.52 lakh from the arrested accused and are hopeful that they would recover the balance and also arrest the absconding accused soon, soures added.
