Modi launches attack on Sonia, Virbhadra
Launching a scathing attack on Sonia and Virbhadra Singh, BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi alleged that the country had been mercilessly looted and brought on the brink of bankruptcy by the mother-son duo government in New Delhi and the development of Himachal Pradesh had been badly retarded by the husband-wife team of Pratibha Singh and Virbhadra Singh in Shimla.
Mr Modi was addressing a rally in support of party candidate Ram Swarup Sharma at the Padal Ground here today.
Overwhelmed by the crowd, Mr Modi said many including he himself had not imagined such an unprecedented and historic rally in a small and sleepy town of temples in Himachal Pradesh. A new history was being created in this hill town, he added.
Pointing out sarcastically at the ruling Congress leaders, he said those born with 'golden spoons' in their mouths can seldom realise the scourge and pangs of the poor and mitigate their untold sufferings.
In the present political scenario there was a clash between the (Kamgars and Namdars) workers.
He said for many years Congress had been befooling the people of this country by making false promises and shallow slogans. At times they promised to stop inflation in 100 days, but just the reverse had been happening.
Prices went up making the life of the poor middle class people unbearable. People were beguiled by their cunning and tricky slogans like 'Congress Lao Garibi Hatao', he said, adding that they won the elections but poverty could not be eradicated and the poor were rather brought on the brink of starvation.
He made a passionate call to the people to wake up and make the country, 'Congress Free'.
